This is an archive of what is mostly my academic writings that I'm happiest with, and think are genuinely worth reading. I've put it in reverse chronological order.
MSc Dissertation: Midlands Modernity
My MSc Urban Studies Dissertation! It's on the history of Birmingham's increasingly dismantled Inner Ring Road, and seeks to understand it (and the city in general), through a modernist lens. If you don't care about me going on about how to understand modernism in the abstract, skip the literature review and the methodology.
Thmescapes: The Tideway Tunnel and the Technofix
This piece was written for my Materialist Ecological Architectures seminar led by Peg Rawes - the best and most stimulating experience I had in 4 years at UCL. This piece examines the Thames through an architectural/geographical/aesthetic philosophy lens, and is probably the most interesting thing I've ever written. I was very busy and stressed when writing this, so it came out a little underbaked, but I'm still rather happy with it and feel it's worth a read.
